About
Elisse Tweet Fine Art offers weekly fine art classes where students practice drawing, painting, coloring pictures with pastels, and watercolor painting. Classes include step-by-step tools to build a drawing and add colorful, true-to-life effects, and children finish class with a mini art show. Students begin the program by drawing pictures and coloring them with pastels, and once they have mastered drawing they may progress to watercolor painting.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Weekly classes, once a week; ongoing 90-minute sessions
Elisse Tweet Fine Art is led by Fine Art Instructor Elisse Tweet (Mrs. Tweet). Her experience includes work as a KidzArt Instructor for K–2nd grade and as a “Mission: Renaissance” Fine Art Instructor for K–6th grade, as well as creating custom pastel, watercolor, and oil paint artwork. Her background also includes serving as a FAME Art Docent Elementary School Volunteer, earning a B.A. in Visual Arts from UC San Diego, serving as a Girl Scout Troop Leader for eleven years, and being a parent of a now adult son and daughter.
In 2015, Elisse Tweet launched her home business in Folsom teaching art classes to children. The program uses a classical method of drawing and painting that anyone can learn, with fine art skills that will last a lifetime. Classes are 90 minutes once a week for ages 5 through teen (Kinder–High School), with a maximum of 6 students, and while classes take place in a group setting, the instructor works one on one with each child.
The stated mission of Elisse Tweet Fine Art is teaching children foundational drawing and painting skills to bring them joy in art and confidence in themselves. Current art class students have won Crocker Art Museum, County Fair, and Yearbook Cover Art contests. One parent, Kelly, shared that Elisse is really good at teaching each child at whatever level they are at, and that her daughter, who started classes at age 10 and is now starting her third year, went from enjoying drawing and decorating cards to winning California State Fair competitions.
