About

Elisse Tweet Fine Art offers fine art classes where students practice drawing, painting, coloring pictures with pastels, and watercolor painting. Children begin by drawing pictures and coloring them with pastels, and once they have mastered drawing they may progress to watercolor painting. Each class ends with a mini art show where students can display what they worked on that day.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Weekly, ongoing 90-minute classes that meet once a week

Classes are taught in a group setting with a maximum of 6 students, and the instructor works one on one with each child during class. At the first class, students are given step-by-step tools to build a drawing and add colorful, true-to-life effects, using a classical method of drawing and painting that is described as something anyone can learn.

Elisse Tweet (also referred to as Mrs. Tweet) is the Fine Art Instructor. Her background includes a B.A. in Visual Arts from UC San Diego; experience as a KidzArt Instructor for K–2nd grade and as a “Mission: Renaissance” Fine Art Instructor for K–6th grade; creating custom pastel, watercolor, and oil paint artwork; volunteering as a FAME Art Docent at an elementary school; serving as a Girl Scout Troop Leader for eleven years; and being a parent of a now adult son and daughter. In 2015, she launched a home business in Folsom teaching art classes to children. Her stated mission is teaching children foundational drawing and painting skills to bring them joy in art and confidence in themselves.

Current art class students have won Crocker Art Museum, County Fair, and Yearbook Cover Art contests, and a student has won California State Fair competitions. One parent, Kelly, shared that Elisse is really good at teaching each child at whatever level they are at, and that Kelly’s daughter started classes at age 10, is beginning her third year of classes, and has gone from enjoying drawing and decorating cards to winning California State Fair competitions.
