• Ages: 5–14 years old
• Schedule: Camps are a minimum of 4 hours in length, and weekly classes run in 3–8 week sessions.
• Price: Sweets & Treats Camp ranges from $250–$420 depending on dates and times; Castle Camp is $435; Squishmallow Camp ranges from $285–$435; Nature's Art Camp is $435; Burn, Pour, & Spray Camp ranges from $285–$435; Stain & Style Camp is $285; Music Lover's Camp, Birdhouse Camp, and Brushes & Boats Camp are each $95.
The Curious Brush was started in 2016 by Julie Reed. According to the program’s mission statement, it was started to encourage kids to explore art, experiment with different materials, and create in new ways, with an emphasis that the experience matters as much as the finished piece. The mission statement also notes a focus on first attempts and second tries and states that the process of creating helps kids relax, express emotion, solve problems, and feel brave and successful.
The program’s policies state that if the start date of an activity is 2 weeks away or more, a full refund is issued. If an activity is less than 2 weeks away and it is a camp (minimum 4 hours in length), two 8x10 canvases and a small selection of paints are provided for each day of camp missed. If cancelling an entire weekly class session (3–8 week duration), one 8x10 canvas per class plus a small selection of paints is provided. For birthday parties, private classes, or Scout badges, the provider makes herself as accessible as possible to reschedule to a new date within 4 weeks of the original date. To register for classes, families are asked to provide the student’s name and grade level and a parent’s name and cell number, and registration is not complete and a spot is not reserved until payment is received.
