About
Will Robins Golf Junior Programs offers junior weekly golf classes, junior weekly coaching, junior golf camps, a junior tour, family events, and educational workshops. Children take part in club handling games such as putting and chipping, games and drills, and team competition. Programs are age- and skill-level specific, with players grouped by comparable ability, and camps are based around games, challenges, and learning the skills needed to play golf.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Junior camps run for 5 days at 90 minutes each day during spring break and all summer; junior coaching is year-round after school for 90 minutes each week, with 4 sessions included in each monthly payment.
Junior camps are age specific, and clubs are provided for camp participants. In bad weather, sessions are held inside with club handling games and First Tee curriculum. For junior coaching, participants can start at any time, and the program includes a free session to try it out, with billing done monthly to a credit card. If a child does not have clubs, they are provided, and if a child has clubs, they are asked to bring them so they can be fitted properly; children are also asked to bring a water bottle, sunblock, proper clothing for the weather, and clubs if they have them, while golf shoes and gloves are not necessary. Golf gift certificates are available for junior or adult lessons, and there is a Path to Champions program for junior golfers looking to compete in tournament or high school golf.
Will Robins Golf has been in operation at one of its locations for over 10 years and is now at four locations across Sacramento, offering classes almost every day of the week. The leadership and coaching team includes Lex Goduti, Will Robins, Maddy Azevada, Joshua Chacon, Jared Butts, Christian Ladd, Hanna Lange, Nick Alkire, and Elizabeth Lin. Will Robins brings experience from playing competitive junior golf in the UK, playing college golf in Monterey, California and West Palm Beach, Florida, and from a successful amateur and professional playing career. The stated mission is that the number one goal is to instill a love of the game of golf for each child, and the vision is to give parents a clear path to get their child into golf and to help develop them to become champions in golf and life.
Parent testimonials describe the WRGolf Tee program as focusing on teaching core values, instilling confidence, and making golf fun for young kids, and note that children enjoy the coaches, games, drills, and classes. Parents report that their children have chosen golf as their main sport, have continued from summer camp into year-round coaching, and have looked forward to each day of camp to learn and spend time with their coaches. The program reports that it has seen players who started in the programs at age seven go on their way to play college golf on scholarships around the country.
