Zoo Camps offers age appropriate animal experiences that include exclusive exhibit visits, tours, games, crafts, songs, and hands-on interaction with some outreach animals. Campers take part in activities such as cleaning exhibits, cleaning enclosures, preparing animal diets, preparing diets, making enrichment toys, and creating enrichment for the animals, such as giant frozen ice pops, hand-made piñatas, and special puzzles with treats. Participants also place enrichment treats and toys into animal enclosures while the animals are locked safely in their dens and then watch the animals discover their special treats when zookeepers release them back into their exhibits, and they spend time learning about domestic and wild animal behavior, animal training techniques, animal health and caregiving, and conservation efforts and how to be good stewards of the environment.

• Schedule: Camps are generally offered over the summer, spring break, and holiday break; after three days of animal-related fun, each child will graduate with a new appreciation of the animal world.
Zoo Camps includes ABC Zoo Camp for ages 4–7, Junior Zookeeper Camp for ages 8–11, and Senior Zookeeper Camp for ages 12–15, with Senior Zookeeper Camp described as an advanced camp that provides an introduction to more of the zoo sanctuary’s animal residents. Each week of Junior Zookeeper Camp includes new and different activities, and campers can join for multiple weeks. Parents are invited to watch a performance of the camp song on the last day of camp, and each child takes home a booklet with photos of their camp activities. Snack is provided daily at ABC Zoo Camp, and snack is also listed as provided daily in the program details.
Operating since 1963, the zoo connected with Zoo Camps has been home to hundreds of animals ranging from squirrels and deer to bobcats and bears, and it currently has close to 100 animals and welcomes over 100,000 visitors each year. The Friends of the Folsom Zoo, Inc. is a nonprofit organization with a mission to preserve and enhance a city treasure by assisting in the enrichment of the lives of the animals living at the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary, and this organization assists in the enrichment of the lives of the animals living there.
