Sierra Mountain Music Camp is a choral and string orchestra camp that includes daily music rehearsals with award-winning directors. Campers take part in activities such as zipline, rock wall, arts and crafts, swimming in the pool, a 100-foot slip and slide, mini golf, archery, talent night, skit night, and campfire songs. The camp also offers twice daily electives and an in-camp rock band that was originally named “IN-TENTS” and later known as “Amadeus.”

• Price: $699 tuition; $15 activity pass for zip line and rock wall
The camp holds three rehearsals per day, totaling four hours of music each day. Each camper receives a commemorative camp theme T-shirt, photos are sent via email after camp, and campers have access to the camp snack shack twice daily with no additional money required. A BBQ lunch for the camper on the last day and two tickets to the camp concert are included, and one camp theme has been “Encore – One More Moment, One More Song.” The program’s mission statement is to give children 4th grade through college an opportunity to learn through music, experience nature without distractions, and make lasting friendships. The camp’s theme song dedicated to Gus is “I Believe in Music,” and in 2024 a special performance arranged by composer Thom Greathouse blended “When You Wish Upon a Star” with “Moon River.” Campers have attended from across California, the U.S., Argentina, and France. Sierra Mountain Music Camp is led by the Sierra Mountain Music Camp Board of Directors, whose members include Superior Court Judge Talmadge Jones, Attorney Ron Leachman, Casey Noland, John Henderson, Jim Failor, Peggy Noland, and Jerry Shantz. The camp became Sierra Mountain Music Camp in 2000 with the addition of an orchestra for all ages, held its 10th-anniversary concert in June 2004, and its 11th annual concert in 2005.
