Scouting in Ventura County Council is open to both boys and girls, and the council welcomes all families with youth ages 5–20. The Ventura County Council has been active since 1921. The council currently serves over 4,500 youth, including non-Scouts, has 779 adult leaders, and sends over 5,000 kids to camp each year. Popcorn fundraising gives Scouts the opportunity to earn their way to adventures, camp, and activities while building confidence, communication, and goal-setting skills. National Youth Leadership Training is described as an exciting, action-packed program designed for building the next generation of leaders, and Monthly Merit Badge Clinics give Scouts a fun, hands-on opportunity to explore interests, build skills, and advance on their Scouting journey alongside experienced counselors.

For the Turkey Shoot event, participants are asked to bring Health Forms Parts A and B to check-in, complete the online California Firearms Permission form, and bring their own lunch. Turkey Shoot awards include ten 1st Place Awards, ten 2nd Place Awards, chocolate turkeys for all, ten tickets for frozen turkey from Vons, and ten Turkey Awards. Exer Urgent Care supports Scouts with their physical screenings, and the Scouting program facilitates meaningful contact and communication between youth, parents, and other community organizations to help young people adopt strong values and life skills.

The mission of the Ventura County Council, Boy Scouts of America, is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The council’s leadership team includes Anthony Arnello (Development Director), Lisa Huebner (Administrative Assistant), Andrea McClellan (Scout Executive/CEO), Jasmin Reimel (District Assistant – Chumash District), Jenna Retana (District Assistant – Tierra Rejada District), Vangie Sexton (Administrative Assistant/Registrar), and Meaghan Von Frausing-Borch (Program Specialist).
