Fresno Tennis Academy offers introductory and competitive tennis programs, customized classes, camps, seasonal camps, and private lessons in both one-on-one coaching and group settings. The program includes tennis and pickleball for kids and adults, with classes that can be customized for each student. The Academy Program is a year-round program for all ages and skill levels, offering a kid-friendly introduction to tennis, fundamental skill development, and preparation for competitive play, and Seasonal Camps are offered year-round to complement the Academy Program for kids of all ages and levels.

Fresno Tennis Academy is led by founders and coaches Francisco Gonzalez and Teresa Samstag-Haug, who each have over 40 years of tennis experience and partnered together to establish the academy. Private lessons provide personalized instruction and flexible scheduling with one-on-one coaching, and the academy also offers bilingual Spanish classes. Francisco encourages each student to explore different styles and discover the one that best suits them, while Teresa emphasizes strong technique and disciplined footwork using the Spanish developmental method she grew up with and continues to teach.

Coaches Francisco Gonzalez and Teresa Samstag-Haug are USPTA certified pros with extensive tennis experience. Francisco has been a USPTA professional since 1992 and USPTR certified since 1994, and Teresa has been USPTA-certified in the United States since 1985 and is certified by the Real Federación Española de Tenis in Spain. Francisco played collegiate tennis for Ohio State University from 1974–76, earning All-Big Ten and All-American honors before being inducted into the Ohio State Hall of Fame in 1987, and from 1977 to 1990 he competed on the ATP Tour, consistently ranking inside the top 100 in both singles and doubles with career highs of No. 36 in singles and No. 24 in doubles. He represented Paraguay in Davis Cup competition from 1983–1990 and played for Puerto Rico’s Davis Cup team in 1992. Teresa was born in Barcelona, Spain, grew up playing at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona 1899, was a nationally ranked junior, represented Spain in numerous European competitions, later coached several of the country’s national teams, and became the first female tennis instructor at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona, where she taught for ten years.

The academy’s mission is to offer a full range of introductory and competitive tennis programs to fit most any new or experienced tennis player's schedule and level of commitment and to help players reach maximum potential whether they want to improve their game, play for a school, or compete on a local, state, national, or world-class level. Sierra Sport & Racquet Club, where all tennis is taught, is described as the Valley’s premiere tennis facility and has built a community that is interactive, social, and diverse, with a focus on total fitness and family experience for more than 35 years. Sierra Sport & Racquet Club has been voted the #1 facility in the nation by the USTA, and its property includes tennis and pickleball courts and extensive recreational and social activities.

Parent and player testimonials describe Francisco as having a true understanding and motivational ability to develop players of all ages and levels, and note that his students have achieved USTA rankings and gone on to play Division I college tennis. Testimonials describe Teresa as being very involved in her students’ matches, focusing on weaknesses, building solid strokes, and making lessons fun, with one long-time student saying they “ALWAYS have fun” in her sessions.
