About
Taguhi Summer Day Camp offers classes in music, dance, drama, arts and crafts, and verse, along with a session of games designed to develop critical thinking, empathy, and strategy. Each day begins with light exercises in a nearby park. Throughout the day, when not in class, students take part in supervised lunch recess and move between sessions under the guidance of camp counselors.
• Ages: 5–11 years old
• Schedule: Student drop-off is at 8:00am, the camp day ends at 4:00pm, and earlier drop-off or later pick-up can be arranged with the administration.
• Price: Meals are covered by the weekly tuition, including breakfast and lunch.
The program is formed for children in grades K–5 and expands Lark Conservatory’s philosophy of arts education to younger children by offering a full range of artistic mediums. Classes are kept small with a low student-to-teacher ratio, and snacks and beverages are offered free of charge throughout the day. Parents are required to sign in and sign out their children on arrival and departure, and students are welcome to bring their own lunch in insulated lunch boxes with an ice pack, with any food allergies or restrictions discussed with staff at enrollment.
Throughout the day, students are supervised by camp counselors who oversee lunch recess and movements from session to session. Counselors are drawn from volunteers and are typically college students or recent graduates of Lark Conservatory, and CPR and First Aid Certified counselors are on duty every day.
Taguhi Summer Day Camp is part of the Lark Musical Society, led by President Vatsche Barsoumian. For over three decades, the Lark Musical Society has organized innumerable events, promoted the arts, and fostered community through offerings of Classical and Armenian folk music. Its mission includes the education and development of youth, exposure to a wealth of cultural influences, encouragement of an artistic mind-frame, and challenging students to acquire skills to operate both as leaders and within an ensemble.
