Central Coast Friday Night Lights organizes separate boys and girls divisions from kindergarten through 8th grade, with 5 divisions based on grade and 9 players to a roster. The program states that girls flag football is approved as an official CIF high school sport for the fall season. Teams can be formed with friends, neighbors, and classmates, and families can either form their own team or have one formed for them, with only one practice per week and everyone playing in 3 out of 4 quarters. The program notes that weekends are free, uses professional paid game officials, and provides trophies, a special uniform patch, and optional fan gear through a Fanatics link. Football training is led by Joe Protheroe, described as the all-time leading Cal Poly running back, and the commissioner is Mark Broersma, whose listed phone number is 805-801-6390. The organization reports that 40,000 to 50,000 kids play FNL football each year across 22 FNL football leagues and describes itself as the “#1 Youth Flag Football League in California,” the “Fastest Growing Youth Sports League on the Central Coast,” and the “Best Youth Sports Experience You Will Ever Have.”
