Campers also spend time hanging out on the quad, participating in the talent show and evening programs, and taking part in lane and recreational swimming, team discussions, and group activities.

• Ages: 8–17 years old
• Schedule: Families can choose between a ten-day or three-week experience for campers in grades 3–11, or a full-summer CIT program for rising 12th graders.

At JCC Maccabi Sports Camp, the mission states that sports and community are used in an immersive camp environment where sports become a forum for kids to develop lifelong skills that go beyond the field of play, and that campers enhance their skills as athletes and as people who learn and demonstrate resilience, show compassion, and value being part of a community. The camp focuses on building strong character and Jewish community through sports and combines an overnight camp environment with Jewish community and culture. Campers join from across the United States, Canada, Israel, and beyond, and train in a specialized sports program that supports development as individual players and as teammates, using facilities that are also used by All-American athletes.

Meals at JCC Maccabi Sports Camp are kosher-style, with no pork or shellfish and separate meat and dairy meals, and include organic, gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. Each suite serves as a cabin with 8 campers and 2–3 dedicated counselors who accompany the cabin at meals and activities and provide supervision throughout the day, and cabin make-up is determined by school grade and gender. Behind Maccabi Sports Camp are staff described as passionate and experienced, who understand the value of camp and the importance of growing from sports. The camp is part of the Oshman Family JCC JCC Maccabi Sports Camp community.

Parent testimonials report that one 5th grade basketball player from Greenbrae, CA “had the best time and can’t stop raving about how much fun it was, how much he grew, and how he can’t wait for next year,” and that his sister may join him. Another parent of a first-time camper shared that their child talked about the routine and the Shabbat experience, loved the food, movies, and rest time, and “felt seen and understood and trusted” the staff. A third parent of a first-time camper said their child came back “transformed,” more helpful around the house, kinder and more generous, and a better sport during family game nights, “displaying grace in defeat.”
