Hillsborough Little League states that it uses baseball to bring together the community and teach life lessons for kids from Burlingame, San Mateo, Hillsborough, and Millbrae. The league’s territory includes Hillsborough, San Mateo Park, Burlingame west of El Camino, and Millbrae west of El Camino or north of Millbrae Ave. Any child between age 4 and 7 can play regardless of location and can continue to play through age 14, while children age 8 or above who are new to the league must either live or attend school (K or higher) within the league’s territorial boundaries.

Upper Division (Majors, Minors, and AAA) and 54-80 Division teams are selected through a draft process based on tryout results, and tryouts are required for these divisions even for returning players. Lower level teams are randomly assigned, with efforts to place players with teammates from the same school and grade, and players aged 8 or 9 who try out but are not drafted are reassigned to AA. Coach or teammate requests can be made during registration but are not guaranteed, children of team managers or coaches are assigned to their parents’ team, and siblings in the same division are assigned to the same team. The league sometimes closes divisions as they fill and keeps a waiting list for closed divisions.

Players who are new to Hillsborough Little League must show proof of birthdate, such as a birth certificate or passport, and proof of residency before their registrations are confirmed, while returning players only need to provide these if specifically asked. The league emphasizes concussion safety awareness for all players, families, and coaches and provides information on Little League bat requirements through a dedicated link.
