Sierra STEM Summer Day Camps include hands-on labs, experiments, art projects, performances, outdoor activities, playing outside, hands-on dissections, first aid practice, learning about recycling, compost, water treatment, and landfills, as well as using compasses and building campfires. Some camps also include a backpacking trip with all food, gear, and equipment provided for that trip, and certain camps provide all gear and equipment for activities such as Sports Medicine Camp. Lunch and healthy snacks are provided at the listed camps.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: Week-long summer day camps running July 6 through August 7, 2026, with sessions such as July 6–10, July 13–17, July 20–24, and July 27–31; some camps run 9am–2pm, some 9am–4pm, and Wonders of Water includes a 1-night backpacking trip from Thursday 7am through Friday 4pm; after-camp care is available 2–4pm for some camps for an additional fee
• Price: Mono & Inyo County residents pay $50 per student per week of day camp and $100 per student for backpacking camps; nonresidents pay $350 per student per week of day camp and $500 per student for backpacking camps; after-camp care costs an additional $100 per week; there is no charge to join a waitlist, payment is due at registration, and through May 31 an 80% refund is offered for cancellations, with no refund from June 1 onward
Sierra STEM states that its mission is to spark curiosity and cultivate resilience through connection to nature, science, and community. The curriculum emphasizes collaborative problem solving, creative and innovative thinking, and reflective analysis. Camps are sponsored by local organizations that support Mono and Inyo County residents through discounted registration fees, and scholarships are available for Mono and Inyo County residents who would otherwise not be able to enroll. Sierra STEM collaborates with schools and non-profits to develop highly customized outdoor Experiential Learning programs and is affiliated with the June Lake Chamber of Commerce, Sierra Nevada Alliance, and Cornerstone Safety Group. Sierra STEM operates under permits from the Inyo National Forest, Yosemite National Park, and Death Valley National Park, among others. Before camp begins, families receive an email with information about the week’s itinerary, activities, what to bring, and other logistics.
