About
The Preschool program offers early learning experiences that focus on PLAY, exploring, discovering, and experiencing meaningful activities in a rich, nurturing, and high quality early learning environment. The program includes activities that promote social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and creative development. It is structured to support each child’s unique learning style and to create a space where children feel safe and secure, with an emphasis on belonging and inclusion.
• Ages: 3–5 years old
• Schedule: Class options on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and Tuesday/Thursday during morning and mid-day hours
In 1959, a group of concerned citizens in Kelowna came together to see what they could do to develop a safe place for boys to go after school, and this history forms part of the organization behind the Preschool program. The program’s mission focuses on four core programming areas: physical activity, health and safety; leadership, growth and empowerment; learning and career development; and family and communities. The Preschool program is part of a larger organization that has 1,000 children, youth and their families walk through the doors of its 41 service locations every day. The program is led by dedicated Early Childhood Educators who connect with each family’s unique diverse strengths and maintain relationships based on mutual trust, openness, and respect. To support quality in the program, the organization invests in its educators by providing professional learning opportunities and encouraging reflective practice, and it encourages two-way communication between parents and educators.
