The Lake County Sheriff's Activities League has dedicated its service to the youth of Lake County, California since 1997. Its mission states that it provides local youth with the opportunity to engage in positive leisure time activities through sports and educational venues, aided by local law enforcement, community leaders and associative partners, and that it offers children a safe and positive environment where they can learn, play and excel. The program is inspired by the Police Athletic League (PAL) program begun by Police Commissioner Arthur Woods in 1914, and Sheriff Mitchell assigned two officers to support Lake County Sheriff's Activities League activities. The organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is 100% funded by donations, grants, fund-raisers, and the generosity of community partners, and all programs are inclusive, coeducational, celebrate diversity, and welcome all children regardless of identity, circumstance, or differing abilities. An enthusiastic staff of volunteers provides mentorship through a variety of activities and social engagements.
The leadership team includes President Dave Borjon, Vice-President Dan Springer, Secretary Mary Borjon, Treasurer JoAnn Serano, and board members Cynthia Radoumis, Terry Norton, Elizabeth Larson, Mike Powers, Sierra Baker, and Elizabeth McElroy.
