About
Cheer Sport Sharks Cheerleading Programs offers cheerleading through recreational and competitive cheerleading programs, classes, camps, and team programs. Athletes train in top level cheerleading with a focus on cheerleading as a combination of dance and gymnastics, with all the benefits of team sports. The program includes exclusive all star cheer teams supported by renowned coaches and what the organization describes as “fintastic” facilities.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
Cheer Sport Sharks began in 2003 when lifelong friends and cheerleading coaches Ali Moffatt and Alana Potter offered cheerleading programming to 35 athletes out of the Cambridge Kips Gymnastics Club. Cheer Sport Sharks states that it continues to be a leader in the cheerleading world and is dedicated to providing a fun and safe environment to grow and learn as athletes and individuals. Cheer Sport coaches are certified in all components of cheer sport by the internationally-recognized International All-Star Federation for Cheer and Dance Teams (IASF), and the organization reports an extremely low staff-turnover rate, with many coaches having been with Cheer Sport Sharks since the very beginning.
Cheer Sport Sharks offers girls and boys ages 3 and up the chance to build confidence and physical strength through cheer’s dynamic blend of athleticism and artistry, with coaches encouraging athletes to be both courageous competitors and supportive team players. The organization reports that coaches enhance cheerleading training with leading edge techniques to keep skills “razor sharp” within a safe, inclusive environment, and that all athletes are provided with custom support to set and reach personal goals. Cheer Sport Sharks also offers an affiliate and licensee program for running a Cheer Sport Sharks Affiliate Location, and provides a variety of recreational and competitive cheerleading programs for all skill levels across southern Ontario.
Cheer Sport Sharks lists extensive competitive credentials, including 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023 World Champions – Great White Sharks; 2022 and 2023 World Champions – Star Spotted Sharks; 2023 World Champions – Small Fin Sharks; and taking 14 teams to the 2023 World Championships. Additional results include 2016 Bronze Medalists at Worlds – Great White Sharks; 2017 Silver Medalist at Worlds – Great White Sharks; 2019 Silver Medalist at Worlds – Grey Reef Sharks; and Grey Reef earning 4th place in the International All Girl Level 6 Division in 2017. The program also lists 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023 NCA Championships for Great White Sharks, offering Canada’s first ever Special Needs team in 2005, and offering Canada’s only Youth Level 5 team, White Cheek Sharks, from 2010–2015.
In its own words, Cheer Sport Sharks states that “your child will train in a safe, supportive, fun environment thanks to the heartfelt and tireless dedication of our outstanding staff,” and notes the positive influence coaches aim to provide. The organization also states that athletes “travel far and wide to be a part of our exclusive all star cheer teams due to our success, renowned coaches and fintastic facilities,” and that families will “love our fun, energetic and addictive culture.” One parent testimonial describes a first competitive season as “an incredible experience” and says that a child “has grown so much over the course of only one year,” calling the team “top notch” and the environment “wonderful” for children “to grow and flourish in.”
