About

Gracie Barra La Cañada Flintridge Kids Programs include Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes where kids take part in BJJ-themed games, structured drilling with partners, and live sparring (rolling). The program offers specific training in both gi and nogi, including takedowns, control, and transitions without the gi. Some classes include full sparring rounds as part of training.

• Ages: 3–13 years old
• Schedule: Class options are available Monday through Friday around midday and late afternoon to evening, with additional morning classes on Saturdays and Sundays.

Gracie Barra La Cañada Flintridge was founded in 2014 with the mission of bringing world-class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to La Cañada and surrounding communities. The academy is described as a premier BJJ academy in the area with a welcoming environment, a structured curriculum, and high-level instruction for all experience levels. The Little Champs 1 program is the entry point for young children beginning their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey, and most Little Champs 1 students start around age 4, with kids as young as 3½ able to join with coach approval based on maturity and readiness. Little Champs 1 uses BJJ-themed games with no submissions, while the Little Champs 2 / Juniors program is described as being for kids ages 7 to 13. The Kids Advanced Program is typically open to students with a grey-white belt or higher, or by professor approval, and the GB1 Fundamentals Program is open to teens and adults ages 13 and up. No-gi options at the academy include Friday mornings and a Thursday evening Wrestling for BJJ class, and the GB2 Advanced Program is open to students ranked 3-stripe white belt and above. The GB3 Competition Class is a 2-hour session built for active competitors and serious athletes, with a focus on match pacing and conditioning that simulates tournament performance, and the academy is described as a place where discipline meets community and students grow both on and off the mat.

Gracie Barra La Cañada Flintridge was founded by Orlando Sanchez, who is described as an ADCC Champion and jiu-jitsu icon. After Orlando’s passing, the school was entrusted to his long-time student and friend, Professor Alec, who has 20 years of jiu-jitsu training experience and over 10 years of coaching experience.
