Creative Kids Playhouse

Creative Kids Playhouse offers Mainstage Players, Excalibur Players, Camelot Players, the C.A.T.E. Awards, and school plays and musicals. Mainstage Players produce two big two-act musicals each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. Excalibur Players usually perform a big musical each spring and a full-length straight play every summer, and Camelot Players perform two big events each year.

Programs

• Mainstage Players — ages 5-12
• Excalibur Players — 7th-12th grade · The most advanced troupe of performers. Usually performs a big musical each spring and a full length straight play every summer.
• Camelot Players — experienced 10 year olds – 12th grade
• Children Achieving Theatre Excellence (C.A.T.E.) Awards — Annual awards show and fundraiser recognizing young actors.
• School Plays & Musicals — School musicals are produced for several schools across Orange County.
• The Tom Thumb program — kids aged 3-6 · No longer active for the 2023/24 season.

About the provider

Creative Kids Playhouse was co-founded in 2011. Michele Sheehy is Artistic Director, CEO, and Co-Founder. Rachael Gafner is Production Manager, Mainstage Director, CATE Co-Chair, and Set Design & Prop Master, and Maureen Russell is Excalibur Players Director, Lead Choreographer, and Creative Team. The C.A.T.E. Awards are the organization’s largest event of the year and an annual fundraiser recognizing young actors.

The Tom Thumb program for kids aged 3-6 is no longer active for the 2023/24 season. CKP will evaluate if that program returns in the future. Excalibur Players have a higher level of commitment and behavior expected. Camelot Players may include students as young as 10 with permission from the director.
