The Grand Theatre High School Project is currently in its twenty-seventh year and was the first program of its kind in the country. It involves as many as one hundred high school participants annually from schools across the region. The Grand Theatre is known for world-class theatre created and built in London, Ontario, and is recognized as southwestern Ontario’s premier producing theatre. The theatre presents productions on two stages: the Spriet Stage, which has 839 seats, and the Auburn Developments Stage, which has 144 seats. The venue has been recently renovated and offers a contemporary and welcoming environment. The main stage was renamed the Spriet Stage in recognition of a historic $1,000,000 donation from Helen and Andy Spriet, which was the largest individual gift in Grand Theatre history and in the arts community in London. The Grand Theatre operates as a vibrant cultural hub and not-for-profit professional theatre, with a mission to gather, inspire, and entertain audiences in London and beyond. Its leadership team includes Artistic Director Rachel Peake and Executive Director Lyndee Hansen, and it has deep ties to the community and to its artists, artisans, and technicians. The Grand Theatre also collaborates with companies and artists across the country through co-productions and is home to several music series, community arts rentals, and cultural and special events.
