STAR Tutoring is a free, in-person tutoring program that offers reading support and math support. Tutoring sessions are conducted in small group formats, and for each session families can choose to focus on either math or reading. The program is designed to support students in grades 1 through 6 and is structured to complement school-based learning and provide consistent academic support throughout the year.

• Price: The program is a free, in-person tutoring program, and participation is free with advance registration

STAR Tutoring is offered at 30 LA County Library locations. LA County Library was founded in 1912 and is led by Dr. Skye Patrick, County Librarian and Director of LA County Library. LA County Library states that it belongs to its communities and serves as a portal to learn, grow, and succeed. LA County Library received the National Medal for Museum and Library Service in 2023. STAR Tutoring is funded by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Care First Community Investment, and the LA County Justice Care and Opportunities Department, and is hosted at local LA County Library branches to make learning opportunities accessible within the communities where families live and learn.
