About
Braille Institute Classes and Workshops for Youth offers free classes, workshops, and one-on-one sessions for people with low vision to no vision. Classes last multiple weeks and build on each other, while workshops are open to the public and are single-day sessions usually lasting about one to two hours. Classes, workshops, and one-on-one sessions are available online and by phone, and books for all ages are available in a variety of formats through the Braille Institute Library.

Braille Institute centers offer enrichment, core skills, and professional resources at all seven centers. Brailleinstitute.org is a 2025 Honoree in the Webby Awards for Websites and Mobile Sites, Accessible Technology. All videos are audibly translated into multiple languages, and families can download a free accessible font called Atkinson Hyperlegible. One parent testimonial states, “We are lucky to have this friendship through Braille Challenge!” and a student and volunteer shares, “It’s a place to learn.”
