Children Striving Together Tutoring Services offers academic support through tutoring and homework assistance using proven strategies. In March of 2013, Christi McDaniel established Children Striving Together. The organization’s mission is to empower youth in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Bernardino Counties through fun, engaging, and impactful programs, including mentorship and enrichment activities, in safe spaces for growth, learning, and leadership development, with a goal of shaping tomorrow’s leaders by offering guidance, support, and opportunities for success. Children Striving Together provides enrichment activities, mentoring, and annual events to at-promise youth in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
The leadership team includes Christi McDaniel (Founder & CEO), Domonique Jackson (President), Brianna Davis (Secretary), Matt Kappadakunnel (Board Member), Tiesha Utai (Board Member), Brooke Richmond (Mental Health Coordinator), Precious Okeke (Finance Coordinator), Hritu Barua (Volunteer Coordinator), Samia Sami (Grant Writer), and Maia Corsame (Grant Writer). The program is described as “Not your average after-school program,” with a focus on a positive community, peer mentorship, virtual tutoring, health and wellness activities that keep youth moving from sports to interactive events, academic support through tutoring and homework assistance using proven strategies, enrichment activities like arts and crafts, teen book clubs, and field trips, and a stated goal to establish youth centers worldwide.
