French Group Classes for Kids & Teens offers French regular classes and Conversation and Thematic classes that follow a structured curriculum based on the Alter Ego textbooks. All language courses in this program are structured according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Textbooks for the classes can be purchased by emailing [email protected], and they are shipped for free, with scans of the needed pages sent if the purchase is made only a few days before the start of class.
• Ages: 4–17 years old
• Schedule: Kids and teens group and private classes for ages 4–17 are offered on Saturdays. French regular classes run 3 hours per class for 8 weeks, and Conversation and Thematic classes run 1 hour and 3 minutes per class for 8 weeks.
The program is part of Alliance Française de Los Angeles, whose journey traces back to the founding of the Alliance Française de Paris in 1883. Alliance Française de Los Angeles is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a member of the Federation of Alliances Françaises USA, which is part of a global network with over 900 chapters in 130 countries and over 100 chapters in the United States and Puerto Rico. The organization’s mission states that it is a community where a shared passion for French language and Francophone cultures brings people together from all walks of life. The leadership team includes School Coordinator Marie Velde, Director Jasmine Rafati Fowler, Education Coordinator Mahsa Daraei, Administrative Coordinator Adam Sayad, Board President Cynthia Hajjar, Treasurer Steven Bushong, Secretary Helen Tartavull, and Advisory Council President Nicole Montgomery. The organization offers TCF certifications as ANF-Canada-TP-Québec, provides free access to the French e-library Culturethèque for members, and offers Conversation groups called Thé ou Café to practice French in a casual environment.
