About
Inner-City Arts Student Programs offers K–5 summer camp and Grades 6–12 summer Institutes that include creative workshops in visual arts, performing arts, media arts, and integrated arts workshops. The program takes place on Inner-City Arts’ beautiful, award-winning campus, which includes The Rosenthal Theater, a state-of-the-art performance space for performance and engagement for students, artists, and the community.

Inner-City Arts was founded in 1989 and has served more than 200,000 students and 10,000 teachers in the Los Angeles area since its start. Every year, more than 5,000 elementary school students receive arts education on the Inner-City Arts campus, and more than 1,000 middle and high school students take part in creative workshops after school, on weekends, and during the summer. The organization’s mission is to provide quality arts instruction for students from underserved communities, integrated arts workshops for educators, and programming for the community through The Rosenthal Theater. Inner-City Arts has a unique partnership with LAUSD and engages families and community members through programs and events in the Rosenthal Theater and other campus spaces.
The leadership team includes Shelby Williams-González, President and CEO; Bob Bates, co-founder and co-artistic director; Matthew Sutphin, Communications Manager; Alma Villegas, Senior Director of Development; Rosanna Tullio, Associate Director of Institutional Giving; Anabel Vallin, Programs Assistant; George Garcia, EVP & Chief Operating Officer; Collette Williams Alleyne, Chief Education Officer; and Jennifer Carroll, Associate Director of Education. One Inner-City Arts student, Anthony Carrillo, says, “When I’m at Inner-City Arts, I feel like I’m in a secure place in which I am not judged and am able to be myself.” Another student says, “I’m getting more of a sense of hope.” Student Kimberly Duron says, “Inner-City Arts provides us with a beacon of light that makes us feel proud of who we are, and allows us to see the path we were meant to be on, regardless of our career choices.” Founders Board Member Eric Schotz says, “That’s what I love most about art. There’s no mistake; there’s no A. It’s interpretive to the person. Inner-City Arts teaches that you can succeed at any level.”
