Playa Vista Martial Arts

Playa Vista Martial Arts offers group classes and private lessons in Kung Fu San Soo, women’s self-defense, anti-bullying, and Verbal Self-Defense. The program also offers special seminars in areas such as anti-bullying and women’s self-defense, both at its own facility and at other locations in the community upon request. Classes are structured to include both beginners and experienced Kung Fu San Soo students in the same sessions.

Playa Vista Martial Arts is owned and operated by Master Lawrence Rouse. The program’s stated mission is “Integrity • Discipline • Respect.” It has been in operation from 2006–2024. Playa Vista Martial Arts has been certified in Verbal Self-Defense by the Verbal Judo Institute and is the only school in West Los Angeles and most of the South Bay authorized to offer this anti-bullying program. It offers classes for kids, adults, women’s self-defense, law enforcement, and for special needs kids and adults, and has worked extensively with adults and children with special needs for more than a decade. Playa Vista Martial Arts serves the Los Angeles communities of Westchester, Culver City, Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey, Ladera Heights, and Playa Vista, and also draws students from other areas.
