About

Camp Galileo offers hands-on projects that include STEAM projects, crafts, lanyards, building projects, and other design challenges. Campers take part in collaborative activities, outdoor play, outdoor games, songs, face painting, pie throwing, team-building challenges, and a Weekly Water Day tradition. Older participants can join leadership development activities, shadow K–5th-grade campers, observe and support Galileo staffers in action, mentor younger kids, and receive personalized coaching from experienced instructors while devising Water Day stations, leading skits, planning flash mobs, crafting flair, engineering launchers and golf courses, and putting on mini Olympics.

• Ages: 5–16 years old
• Schedule: Camp day 9am–3pm with optional extended care from 8–9am and 3–6pm

Camp Galileo’s curriculum is created by a year-round team of teachers, artists, makers and engineers, and combines STEAM exploration and outdoor fun for kids in grades K–10. Nebula campers (K–1st) and Star campers (2nd–3rd) work on 1–2 day, age-appropriate projects individually and in small groups, Supernova campers (4th–5th) complete small group challenges and longer individual projects, and Meteors (6th–8th) focus on one individual project throughout the week. Counselors in Training (CITs) are leaders at camp and own projects within a camp aspect of their choosing.

For over 20 years, Galileo has delivered hands-on STEAM projects, outdoor play and summer activities to hundreds of thousands of campers, serving over 90 communities and more than 570,000 young innovators, and providing over 49,000 scholarships. Galileo operates award-winning summer camps and expanded learning programs and is now enrolling for Summer 2026. The program states that every hands-on project and outdoor game K–10th graders take on at Camp Galileo is an opportunity to build creative problem solving and collaboration skills, and that its imagination-sparking curriculum unlocks the innovation skills kids need to thrive and persist in the face of challenges. Galileo operates summer camps and expanded learning programs at over 60 locations in Northern and Southern California, Chicagoland, Denver and Seattle.

Parents in 2024 described Camp Galileo as a place where their kids “love it and come home thinking more independently and deeply than before,” and as “such a joyful environment” where their child loves the counselors, projects, games and activities and looks forward to returning every summer. Other parents shared that their children had “a lot of fun building things and making new friends” and that it was “an exciting educational experience with a lot of engagement and learning,” and noted that their kids “loved all the building projects and are still singing songs from camp” and that they plan to return “next summer and for longer.” Campers take a nut-free snack break during the camp day.
