About

Glenn County 4-H Summer Camp offers a three-day camping experience where campers take part in crafts, tie-dye, archery, fun STEM activities, outdoor cooking, fishing, fort building, and an evening campfire. Campers also learn fun, silly songs and participate in fun challenges as part of the daily schedule.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Monday, June 22, to Thursday, June 25, 2026, with a three-day camping experience for youth; adult staff and teen counselors attend Sunday, June 21, 2026, through Thursday, June 25, 2026
• Price: The cost of camp is $120.00, with a $20.00 scholarship applied to all 4-H youth camp fees, bringing the camper fee to $100.00 including a 4-H camp t-shirt to tie-dye and all meals; 4-H enrollment fees are $70.00; the 4-H Teen Camp Counselor and Youth Camp Director fee is $65.00, with a $15.00 scholarship bringing that fee to $50.00 including all meals and a 4-H camp t-shirt; a $2.00 credit card fee is charged for online credit card payments.

The program invites all 4-H members and their friends (non-4-H members) who are 9–13 years old as of December 31, 2025, to attend as campers. Primary members who are 5–8 years old by December 31, 2025, may attend camp with their parent chaperone present for the duration of camp. Members 14–18 years of age as of December 31, 2025, must apply and be chosen as a Camp Counselor to attend camp, and Teen Camp Counselors must attend six of the eight planning meetings. Teen Camp Counselor and Youth Camp Director roles focus on leadership, life skills, confidence, problem solving, and being positive role models, and prior 4-H Camp experience is not required for these roles. It is not required to be a current 4-H member to apply as a Teen Camp Counselor or Youth Camp Director, but those who are not members must complete 4-H enrollment and pay the enrollment fee.

Camp operations include daily scheduled shower rotations where participants wear a swimsuit, and shower curtains provide additional modesty. The camp uses “camp money” to incentivize positive behavior, which campers can use to purchase rewards at the 4-H camp store. Applications are accepted on a first come, first serve basis, and a waiting list may be established. Fee waivers are available for qualifying families whose monthly household cash income is at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

The camp has a Camp Cook with more than 20 years of experience cooking for camps, events, and large activities, and a resident Certified Nurse is present and available for the duration of camp. All staff and adult volunteers are approved through the California 4-H Adult Volunteer process, receive training, and are required to pass a DOJ clearance. Youth, staff, and volunteers work together from the planning phase through the duration of camp in a strong youth-adult partnership, and Teen Camp Counselors plan evening themes for youth to dress up and bring them to the evening campfire.

Through the 4-H Program, Glenn County 4-H Summer Camp engages youth in hands-on learning to build citizenship, leadership, and life skills, preparing them to become the competent citizens of tomorrow. The University of California Extension was first introduced to Glenn County in 1915, and UCCE Glenn County works in cooperation with the County of Glenn as part of a full partnership of federal, state, county, and private resources linked in applied research and educational outreach. With donations from the AltaCal Audubon Society and the Tractor Supply Paper Clover Campaign, the camp provides a $20.00 scholarship toward all 4-H youth camp fees and a $15.00 scholarship toward each Teen Camp Counselor and Youth Camp Director fee.
