Victory Garden Kids Tutoring includes an option to incorporate academic parenting sessions into students’ individual programs. Its Academic Parenting program has grown into a Parent Coaching method based on the philosophy of Same Page Parenting, with coaching programs individualized to the needs of each family using foundational principles. The program offers long-term support for students from elementary and middle school into high school and the journey to college acceptance, including support with tracking student successes and achievements. It provides guidance through internships, volunteer hours, service projects, and class selections, and assists with transferring information into a complete college application. The program also offers essay editing and help for students to get their hearts and goals onto paper for potential schools.
Victory Garden Kids was created many years ago while the founder was teaching middle school, and the founder has taught for 20 years and offered private tutoring to students. The leadership contact for the program is Jennifer, who can be reached at [email protected] or 530.632.2808. The program’s mission states that it works for the benefit of the student academically to provide programs and sessions that the whole family can benefit from, and that staff speak with parents to find what they need to best academically support their children, regardless of the family dynamic. According to the mission, the goal is to share and instill a love of learning in a way that will make a child feel like a powerful, strong, victorious learner, and the program believes in the power and value of children as thinkers and world changers. The mission also states that, though grades and academic excellence are a focus, the ultimate goal is to uplift a child’s emotional and academic confidence so that they feel they are a force of good and joy in the world of which they are an integral part.
Victory Garden Kids Tutoring organizes community events such as VGK Family Day: Hikes, Kites, and Poetry, as well as a Holiday Toy Drive. The program also offers a guidebook for parents titled LEVEL UP: VICTORIOUS READING, a step-by-step guidebook for how to teach a child how to read easily, effectively, and victoriously. LEVEL UP: VICTORIOUS READING includes lesson plans, tools lists, and assessment tracking so parents know when to move on or review concepts. Parents can join an email list for the first release of LEVEL UP: VICTORIOUS READING by contacting [email protected].
