Bay Area Tutoring Association Tutoring Programs

Bay Area Tutoring Association Tutoring Programs offers tutoring in math, English, and science, as well as reading comprehension and computer science literacy. The program also includes SAT prep, AP exam prep, general test prep, executive functioning training, and college readiness support.

Bay Area Tutoring Association Tutoring Programs was founded in May 2013 by Christopher T. Norwood. Tutors in the program include college students, recent college graduates, college professors, teachers, corporate professionals, and retirees from various fields of industry. The organization provides academic support services and executive functioning training for foster youth, homeless, justice involved, underserved, at-risk, and student athletes in the nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area. It offers online tutoring, in-home tutoring, after-school intervention, and enrichment tutoring programs year-round within these nine counties, with tutors working in classrooms during the school day, in after school programs, online, and for strategic partners. Bay Area Tutoring Association trains tutors to tutor English, math, executive functioning, test prep, and college readiness, and also provides tutor training, leadership skill development opportunities, and pathways into part-time and full-time careers in the tutoring industry and school systems. It is a non-profit, charitable organization made up of education professionals, tutors, parents, volunteers, community members, grass roots organizations, business leaders, and corporate retirees, and it works with partnering organizations, municipalities, donors, foundations, and associations connected to San Francisco Bay Area public, private, and charter school systems. Bay Area Tutoring Association has a 2023 Top Rated Awards badge for non-profit and a Guidestar Gold Seal of Transparency 2026.
