Darrell Leffler’s Academy of Music

Darrell Leffler’s Academy of Music offers the Music Discovery Workshop, which includes piano lessons for ages 4-5 and does not require practicing at this level. It also offers the Guitar Workshop, with small classes of 5 where students learn basic strumming, chord progressions, and genres like Rock and Jazz. The Piano Workshop includes a piano class and music theory class, and games are used to reinforce music concepts. Voice Lessons are also available, with students learning to strengthen singing muscles and expand vocal range.

• Music Discovery Workshop — 4-5 · Piano lessons for ages 4-5. All work is done in class and practicing is not required at this level.
• Guitar Workshop — minimum age 8 years old · $27.50 per class · Small classes (5), fun and educational. Students learn basic strumming, chord progressions, and various genres like Rock and Jazz.
• Piano Workshop — grade school age; beginners to intermediate levels · $25 per class · A piano class and music theory class. Games are used to reinforce music concepts.
• Voice Lessons — $30–$35 per class · Provided by Vocal Director Minh Thai. Students learn to strengthen singing muscles and expand vocal range.

About the provider

Darrell has owned Darrell Leffler’s Academy of Music since 1989, and the school says it has over 30 years of proven experience. Darrell Leffler earned a BA in Music Education from San Francisco State University and an MA in Piano Pedagogy from San Jose State University. He also won CreaTV’s best director for his television show Maestro Darrell’s Music Workshop.

Students at the Music Discovery Workshop are promoted to a more advanced one hour lesson after completing Kindergarten, and formal training then requires discipline and dedication to practice. The school says classes are fun and educational.
