Team Elite Basketball Training was formed by Rodel Cruzet in 2008, and in 2012 he opened a 10,000 sq. foot basketball facility called Silicon Valley Sports. The leadership team includes Coach Rodel, Coach Zach, and Al, and the club reports having over 200 kids in its club teams, group training, and individual training. Coach Rodel states that his love for basketball started at age 9 when he began playing competitive basketball, and that he started assistant coaching for local National Junior Basketball and school teams at 13 years old. He received the Community Service Award at his 8th grade graduation from St. John Vianney in 2002 and later graduated from Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward in 2006. The stated mission of Team Elite Basketball Training is to offer elite training and knowledge to young athletes to take their game to the next level, turn weaknesses into strengths and improve on strengths, and ensure that each individual develops on and off the court. Coach Rodel reports that he works out with the players, sweats with them, and motivates them every day.
Parents and players have shared several testimonials about Team Elite Basketball Training. One parent from San Jose describes Team Elite as a great basketball program that treated their family like family from the beginning and notes that Coach Rodel helped their son work on many parts of his game. Another parent from San Jose reports being with Team Elite and Coach Rodel for over three years and highlights the consistency of practices and AAU weekend games. A player from Lancaster who trains at the Elite gym for pro ball states that Coach Rodel is passionate, cares about the game of basketball, hard work, and the kids. A parent from Campbell shares that their son is playing his third season with Team Elite and has seen improvements in his skills and in being part of a team, and mentions that both Coach Rodel and Al have helped him gain confidence and work on his skill level.
