About the provider
CAGIS was founded in 1992 and is Canada’s largest and longest-running STEM club. It is an award-winning club. CAGIS uses a multi-faceted approach to engage under-represented groups in STEM by making STEM hands-on, going behind the scenes into real STEM locations, providing non-stereotyped role models, especially women and gender-diverse experts with intersecting identities, and exposing youth to a range of STEM topics. It prioritizes equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility with an intersectional lens, including training volunteers, encouraging attendees to share pronouns if comfortable, showcasing female and gender diverse role models, waiving membership fees for families experiencing financial hardship, and working on decolonization, reconciliation, and Indigenization.
