About

Camp Ramah in Northern California offers an overnight camp experience that includes specialty programming in ocean exploration, performing arts, and adventure sports. The program also includes sports majors through the Ramah Sports Academy track, where campers focus on their chosen sport while joining other Ramah campers for social, recreational, and religious programming outside of their sports majors.

• Schedule: Three two-week camping sessions, with options for a four or six week camping session; a two or four week Tikvah/Ezra program; and a one-week Taste of Ramah program

Since 1950 the Ramah Camping Movement has been building relationships that last a lifetime at its overnight camps. Camp Ramah in Northern California describes itself as an innovative Jewish summer camp and a specialty camp that combines developing skills and passions in a specialty area with the full experience of a traditional Ramah summer camp. The camp offers a Tikvah (Special Needs) program and a Tikvah/Ezra program for campers with special needs, as well as a Taste of Ramah program for younger campers.

Camp Ramah in Northern California operates under the educational guidance of the National Ramah Commission and is supported by an accelerator grant from the Foundation for Jewish Camp and the Avi Chai Foundation. It also receives financial support from the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund and is a partner of the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies.

One camper and staff member described starting their Ramah Galim journey in the first summer it opened in 2016 and spoke about a long-term friendship that began there. Another camper described choosing Ramah Galim when it opened in 2016 as a chance to help build a new camp community and recalled that the first summer felt like a blank canvas for traditions, culture, friendships, and community. Deret Musselman, Director of Community Care and Inclusion at Ramah Galim, described a journey that began six years earlier with the Tikvah program and reflected on traveling to Israel with a group of adults with special needs.
