About
Hālau Hula Moaniʻaʻala Anuhea offers classes in hula dance, chant, ʻukulele, Hawaiian language, music, and arts and crafts, including craft making. The program offers separate hula and ʻukulele class schedules for keiki, adults, kūpuna, wāhine, mākuahine, kāne, and kaikamāhine. The program’s mission is to perpetuate the Hawaiian culture through dance, language, music, and arts and crafts and to provide an environment that promotes growth in poise, confidence, and self-esteem to foster personal evolvement.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Weekly hula classes on Tuesday evenings, Thursday evenings, and Saturday mornings and afternoons, plus ʻukulele classes on Saturday mornings and mid-day.
Hula classes on Tuesdays include beginning adults (Papa Lehua, Ages 13+), intermediate adults (Papa ʻIeʻie, Ages 15+), and advanced wāhine (Papa ʻIlima, Ages ~13–40). Thursday hula classes include kūpuna (Papa Mokihana, Ages 60+), advanced mākuahine (Papa Honua, Ages 40–60), and intermediate/advanced wāhine (Papa Mohala ʻIlima, Ages 13–40). Saturday hula classes include beginning keiki starting at about 4 years old (Papa Liko), several levels of intermediate keiki (Papa Roselani I, II, and Papa Pīkake), advanced keiki kāne and advanced kāne (Papa Kupukupu and Papa Hīnano), and advanced kaikamāhine starting at about 8 years old (Papa Pua Kalaunu). Saturday ʻukulele classes include beginning keiki (Papa ʻUkulele ʻOhana), intermediate (Papa ʻUkulele Koʻolau), an advanced ʻukulele club (Papa ʻUkulele Kamaka), and beginning adult (Papa ʻUkulele Kanileʻa). Hālau Hula Moaniʻaʻala Anuhea is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Enrollment is open with first classes beginning on Tuesday, 7/7/26 and Saturday, 7/11/26, and a questionnaire is available to fill out to join and try classes through the month of July.
Parents and participants have described Hālau Hula Moaniʻaʻala Anuhea as a place to learn about Hawaiian culture, dance, music, and community and as a hālau preserving Native Hawaiian culture through dance, language, music, and craft making. One parent shared that joining the group and being welcomed in as family has been a positive experience, and others have called it a great place to learn hula and Hawaiian culture and expressed feeling blessed to be accepted into the dance studio.
