SPARK Summer Camp is an all-day summer program that runs during the Alhambra Unified School District summer break. The program is part of SPARK Youth and SPARK Academy Corp and follows the SPARK Pillars, which represent a balanced program for students to achieve success in life. SPARK stands for Service, Personal Achievement, and Relational Knowledge, and the program embraces teachable moments to practice social skills, build character, and gain academic confidence in classrooms.
• Ages: 5–14 years old
• Schedule: All-day summer program from 7:15 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. offered during Alhambra Unified School District summer break.
The organization specializes in homework assistance and academic enrichment that is embedded with life-skill lessons for school-aged children. It also offers after school programs that are located on school campuses for most locations from August through May and are open every day school is in session from dismissal until 6 p.m., as well as camps during Fall and Spring Break. The mission of SPARK Summer Camp is to provide a positive learning environment where students feel they belong, learn they are capable, and discover their talents are a service to the world. The organization values the uniqueness of every child, encourages growth in each individual, and celebrates progress, and through every interaction it aims to instill a love of learning that sparks students’ own ability and confidence toward their full potential.
Linda Wong is the Founder and Executive Director of SPARK Academy Corp, SPARK Youth, and SPARK Summer Camp. She has over 10 years of classroom experience, holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, is a Credentialed Principal and Teacher, and is a Certified Positive Discipline Educator. She is Past President of the Alhambra Rotary Club and was recognized as Congressional Woman of the Year for 2018.
