• Schedule: Session One runs June 08–July 03 with options for 4 weeks or 2 weeks of camp; Session Two runs July 06–July 24 with 3 weeks of camp
• Price: Rates include a frozen treat at the end of each day, all athletic equipment, and a camp t-shirt; sibling discounts are given.
The Decathlon Sports Club was founded in 1981 and describes the Los Altos program as being in its 45th summer, with the phrase “Summer fun since ’81.” The camp serves over 700 families from Palo Alto to Los Gatos each summer. Leadership and founders include Scott Berridge and Rich Wohlstadter, with directors and leaders such as Jeff Berridge, Neal Swank, Chris (Coach) Null, Hana Dvorak, Celena-Lynn Squires, and Tapan Dave. All counselors and senior staff are CPR and First Aid certified, and there is one staff member for every 6 or 7 children in the program. Many staff are former campers who return for multiple summers and move from junior counselor to counselor, and the camp owner is on-site and involved every day.
The camp describes its environment as feeling like an “old neighborhood,” with sports, games, and socializing going on almost non-stop, and with a focus on great staff, hard work, safety and service, attention to detail, individualized attention, and understanding and catering to what children enjoy and need. The program has been recognized as a “BAY AREA PARENT FAMILY FAVORITE.” One parent, Liming, shared that their child Phoebe “had a blast at camp (again) (her 3rd year)” and praised the staff and how the camp is run.
