About
Academy of Ballet Arts offers classical ballet classes along with Pas De Deux, Classical Variations, Pointe, Pre-Pointe, contemporary dance, jazz, and conditioning. Students train in ballet technique, variations, contemporary, jazz, conditioning, and pas de deux in a structured dance setting.

Academy of Ballet Arts was founded in 2011 by director Dana Nelson and has been showcasing local talent for over 10 years. The program’s mission is to create a space for professional classical ballet training with professional level ballet training and coaching. Students can train with experienced and highly qualified instructors with extensive professional backgrounds, including world-renowned ballet teachers.
The program includes Pas De Deux classes to focus on partnered ballet, Classical Variations classes that prepare children for the stage, and Pointe and Pre-Pointe classes guided by expert instructors. Contemporary dance classes blend ballet technique with modern expression. Academy of Ballet Arts offers Murrieta and Temecula ballet classes tailored for individuals of all ages and skill levels, and it offers a free introductory class.
Academy of Ballet Arts competes in Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) and Prix de Lausanne, and ABA dancers have been invited to YAGP Finals each season. In 2020 and 2023, dancers were invited to perform at the Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland. The Junior Company program was created to provide more personalized training and expanded performance opportunities for students geared towards professional careers, and Junior Company dancers have been invited to Youth America Grand Prix Finals each season.
Alumni have been invited to Prix de Lausanne and YAGP finals each season, have joined major companies around the world, and have received full or partial scholarships and professional contracts to institutions including The Royal Ballet School, American Ballet Theatre, Paris Opera Ballet School, San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet, Houston Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Ballet West, Colorado Ballet, and Pacific Northwest Ballet. Academy of Ballet Arts has been recognized and celebrated by major media outlets such as ABC7 and has been featured on ABC7 News.
The program produces two annual full-length ballet productions, including The Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Coppelia, Hansel and Gretel, and other classical ballets. It is described as the Inland Empire’s premiere classical ballet training facility and a supportive environment where students of all ages and levels can thrive. The program is charter school and military friendly.
