Hidden Acres has been operating for over 50 years, and its 50th anniversary was celebrated in 2012. Summer camp is offered for youth ages 5–35. The mission of Hidden Acres Mennonite Camp and Retreat Centre is to provide a welcoming, peaceful gathering place where diverse groups of people experience life-giving connections with God, one another, and nature. Core values include worship and reflection, recreation and fun, rest and renewal, community service, personal growth and discipleship, leadership development, and appreciation and care for the natural environment. The organization seeks to honour the Lord Jesus Christ through programs and facilities, with goals that include providing opportunity for nurturing Christian discipleship and promoting awareness and respect for the natural environment.
Hidden Acres is owned and operated by a private association of Christians and is affiliated with the Mennonite Church of Eastern Canada. Hidden Acres acknowledges that it is on the original land that has been lived on and cared for by the Mississauga, Mississauga of the Credit First Nation, Attiwonderonk (Neutral) and Anishinabewaki peoples, and that this land is covered by Treaty 29, signed in 1827. One camper shared the feedback, “You guys nailed camp!” (Ellie, summer ’18).
