Grip n Rip Junior Tennis was founded in 2006 and has been described as an OC leading junior tennis program since 2006. Swing & Smash Summer Tennis Camp has been a summer favorite in Orange County for nearly 20 years, with 2024 marking a record 750 participants and 850+ kids expected in 2025 as they approach their 20th anniversary in 2026. The program offers numerous UTR match play events and tournaments, as well as semi-private lessons and small group options for up to three kids.

The program states that it is dedicated to developing young players from their first steps on the court to competitive excellence and that its mission is to foster a love for tennis in every child using a positive and engaging teaching approach. It notes a focus on building strong fundamentals, confident players, and long-term development at every stage, with personalized training from skilled, dedicated coaches. Grip n Rip offers a complimentary makeup week at the end of each session where students may attend on their registered days, and 15-minute player assessments can be scheduled for families who are unsure which program or class is the best fit.

The leadership team includes Executive Assistant Gemma Teladro, Programming Director Lucas Monterroso, and Tournament Liaison John Craig. The program describes itself as one of the region’s leading youth tennis programs and highlights its role in helping kids grow both on and off the court.

Parent testimonials describe the summer camp as a favorite, mentioning instructors who combine technique and fun and noting that some children ask to be signed up for additional weeks. One parent reports that their child’s first-ever camp experience at Grip n Rip was welcoming and fun, with a variety of games and noticeable learning in just a few days, leading them to join a fall after-school program and making tennis their child’s favorite sport. Another parent notes that both of their daughters have been in the program for several years, mentions coaches such as John Michael, Sonal, and Sunil by name, and comments on the atmosphere, facilities, flexibility, and the way the program has taught their girls to be players while inspiring them to love the game.
