Summer Dance Camp includes daytime classes in a wide range of dance modalities along with yoga, music, and art. Campers can relax by the lake, swim, play frisbee and volleyball, and take part in evening DJ’ed dances with a wide variety of musical genres. The program also includes camper-led activities and Kids Camp program activities for children.

Summer Dance Camp is part of the Northern California Dance Collective, a decades long community. The camp is primarily volunteer-run and includes a village of dancers community experience, a great Kids Camp program for the little ones, and evening DJ’ed dances. Events are smoke-free, alcohol-free, and substance-free, and the culture evolved from smoke-free, alcohol-free, barefoot dances. The program includes delicious, organic meals prepared by chefs, with specific dietary needs accommodated for vegans and omnivores, and there is a commitment to providing high-quality meals using primarily organic ingredients. Participants are asked to refrain from using scented products, including perfume, cologne, essential oils, and scented body lotions and sunscreen. The camp environment includes acceptance of nudity, especially at the waterfront, a family environment with many different expressions of spirituality welcomed, and the inclusion of ritual and ceremony. NCDC uses Behavioral Agreements and eight practice guidelines for safety and consent, reuses and recycles as much as possible at events, and offers sliding scale registration fees, work-exchange, and partial scholarships. Northern California Dance Collective is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and serves as a resource to the Bay Area freestyle dance community and beyond, providing information and support to local dances. Ken Martini is a long-time NCDC organizer and creator of the Nirvana Cabana venue at NCDC’s Summer Dance Camps.
