Aqua Marin Synchro was founded by parents of synchronized swimmers in 2010. It is a 100% non-profit organization independent of any private club and is the only synchronized swim team in Marin County. The team competes as Redwood Empire Synchro in national competitions every October and earned the high point in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Masters is a developing program for adult swimmers who are trying synchronized swimming for the first time or returning to it, with Masters competition held once a year in late October and other possible events such as State Games in mid July or World Championships in 2027.

Coach Chris Schroeder leads the program. Her background includes 8 years of swimming in Denver, 2 years swimming for S.F. Merionettes during college, and 29 years swimming with Redwood Empire Synchro Masters. She has coached youth swimmers for 23 continuous years in Marin and previously coached in Switzerland and Holland. Her Dutch swimmers were European champions in 1973, and two of her swimmers became the 6th place duet in the 1986 Olympics. Chris has participated in synchronized swimming since age 12.
