The stated philosophy emphasizes meeting basic needs such as safety, nourishment, and rest, challenging children’s creativity, being aware and respectful of emotional needs, and supporting social development and positive self-esteem. The center welcomes and respects diversity of cultures and encourages families to share their cultural traditions, and it describes its role as facilitating children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development for lifelong learning.
The outside space is described as a parklike setting on a one-acre lot, with an abundance of live animals and plants, and the outside is seen as a continuous learning environment designed to meet developmental needs. The entire childcare program encourages independence and free choice within a structured preschool day that is designed to enhance physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development. The childcare center serves children starting at 12 weeks of age, provides two nutritious snacks in the morning and afternoon, and serves a lunch prepared at the school that is included in the price of tuition, with a weekly menu posted on the parent board and website. The preschool provides care for well children.

The school started in the 1970s, and in the early 1980s the Kriss family, whose daughter attended Country Village Preschool, bought the school and expanded it to three locations in Orange County by 2007. In April 2007, Alan and Cristiane Foster became the owners of Children’s Village Preschool. Cristiane has been in the field of teaching since 1986, has a BA in Physical Education, an AA in Early Childhood Education, and completed a Master’s Program in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood at CSULB. Alan is a retired BMX racer who now works part time in the bicycle industry and serves as the bookkeeper, marketing, IT, and fix-it person for the school.
Parent testimonials describe children spending time getting dirty, interacting with animals, and experiencing activities such as seeing butterflies emerge from cocoons, feeding bunnies and chickens, and watching chicks hatch in an incubator. Families mention that the program targets learning through exploration and observation during hands-on activities, and several testimonials state that multiple generations of the same family have attended Children’s Village Preschool of Orange.
