About
Destination Science is a fun science day camp where campers spend their time making fun discoveries, participating in engaging activities, and building cool science projects. Each day includes three imaginative and unusual experiments, along with time to go outside to play games twice every day. Campers also take part in a Camp Rally, where they sing songs and discuss the campers’ accomplishments.
• Ages: 5–11 years old
• Schedule: Summer camp sessions run Monday through Friday and last anywhere from one to four weeks.
• Price: Destination Science pricing and promotional savings are not applicable at Stratford School, Milpitas Campus; Enlighten Enrichment School; Stratford School, Pomeroy Campus; and Stratford School, Washington Park Campus.
Destination Science states its mission as “TO GET KIDS EXCITED ABOUT SCIENCE and TO BUILD TERRIFIC LIFE SKILLS.” The program offers four unique themed day camps each summer, along with various virtual experiences for kids ages 5 to 11. Campers are grouped by age to take part in grade-appropriate activities. The program includes development of social skills such as working together, communicating, and practicing openness to trying new things. Children are rewarded with “terrific” beads to put on their lanyards to encourage character traits such as empathy, responsibility, and fairness. Destination Science is described as a warm, wonderful environment where kids feel comfortable making connections with others, and parents report that their child loves that everyone at science summer camp shares the idea that it is cool to be smart. Destination Science notes that it has over 130 carefully selected camp locations in six states, a flexible cancellation policy, and extended care at specified locations. Parent information also includes a “What to Bring” topic.
One camper shared, “If I can dream it, I can build it. So I’m going to make the first-ever flying train that can carry passengers to explore space!” One parent said, “Camp made my son look at things differently and made learning new things fun with hands on experiments.” Another parent said, “I loved that my kids had the freedom to design and change some of the activities they worked on and make it ‘their own way’ instead of being told how to do it.”
