About

Orinda Baseball Association House League includes baseball games and practices along with team photos, a player parade, carnival games, a Home Run Derby, raffles, and food as part of its activities. The program organizes players into age-based divisions called Pinto (8u), Mustang (10u), Bronco (12u), and Pony (14u), using an April 29 birthday cutoff date each year. Evaluations are held, but they are not tryouts, and every registered player is placed on a team.

• Ages: 6–14 years old
• Schedule: Spring season runs from February to May with evaluations on a weekend in January, 1–2 practices per week, and 1–2 games per weekend starting in February; Fall season runs from September to October with 1 practice per week and 1–2 games per weekend

The House League mission statement is that it provides fun, developmental, and healthy competitive opportunities to learn and play baseball for all Orinda youth ages 6–14, and it is described as offering players of all skill levels the opportunity to enjoy learning and playing baseball in their community. The House League is described as accommodating to periodic scheduling conflicts, and the fall season is described as a lightweight developmental season whose purpose is to keep baseball skills and development ongoing in preparation for spring and to ensure players do not get too rusty. All field closures are made by OUSD and The City of Orinda, and Orinda Baseball Association works with the city and school district to announce field closures on days impacted by rain or weather by 2pm each day with updates posted directly to its site. The program notes a reminder that dogs are not allowed on the fields.
