Laity Institute of the Arts

Laity Institute of the Arts offers acting, animation, art, character design, dance, and private music lessons in piano and/or voice. It also offers private and semi-private art and/or animation lessons, as well as in-home semi-private teaching pods in art, animation, or character design.

Programs

• Acting — $120 per month · Group lessons with five or more students; 15 maximum per class; (2) 60-minute lessons per week; 9-month schedule.
• Animation — $140 per month · Group lessons with five or more students; 10 maximum per class; (1) 90-minute lesson per week; 9-month schedule.
• Art — $120 per month · Group lessons with five or more students; 15 maximum per class; (2) 60-minute lessons per week; 9-month schedule. Private lessons available.
• Character Design — $140 per month · Group lessons with five or more students; 10 maximum per class; (1) 90-minute lesson per week; 9-month schedule. Private lessons available.
• Dance — $120 per month · Group lessons with 10-15 students maximum per class; (2) 60-minute lessons per week; 9-month schedule.
• Private Music Lessons (Piano and/or Voice) — $140–$170 per month · Private 1:1 lessons. (1) 30-minute lesson is $140 per month; (1) 45-minute lesson is $170 per month; 9-month schedule.
• Private and Semi-Private Art and/or Animation Lessons — $285–$375 per month · Available in-person or remote by appointment only. Weekly lessons. Private lessons are 60-90 minutes. Semi-private lessons are 2-4 students.
• In-Home Semi-Private Teaching Pods (Art, Animation, or Character Design) — K-3, 4-6, 7-8, 9-12 · $175–$225 per month · For homeschooled and/or charter school students. Maximum 10 students. Lessons are weekly. Minimum 5 and maximum 10 students to justify a teaching pod.

About the provider

Laity Institute of the Arts was founded in 1989, and the site says it has provided arts instruction since 1992. It says instructors are professional artists and educators, and it describes its programs as award-winning. The organization says it was founded to serve Los Angeles area youth and continues to specialize in supplemental education for children after school.

Laity is not currently in session. It says it is using this time to strengthen its program and operations. Tight class sizes of 5-10 students are described on the site. Tuition and fees are subject to change without notice. A 1x yearly material/activity fee of $100 per student for each class enrolled is required. Charter school parents are told to write down the total tuition cost, contact their provider to submit a voucher, and that the enrollment process ends there for charter school parents.
