About

Latinas Art Foundation Dance Classes offers a range of dance options, including Tiny Tots Ballet Folklorico, Beginners Ballet Folklorico, Ballet Folklorico Advance, Latin Dance, Beyond the Spectrum, Technique/Flexibility, and Hip Hop. In Tiny Tots Ballet Folklorico, students learn basic ballet folklorico steps and movements in a group setting, with class instruction that includes counting and colors in both Spanish and English while learning about traditional and contemporary folklorico dances from Latino America. Beginners Ballet Folklorico and Ballet Folklorico Advance focus on folklorico movements, footwork, choreography, musicality, and learning about traditional and contemporary folklorico dances from Latino America through dance and storytelling.

• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with some classes meeting between 5pm–7pm and additional weekday daytime office hours from 10am–1pm

In Beginners Ballet Folklorico and Ballet Folklorico Advance, students learn cultural and traditional backgrounds of Latino culture through dance and storytelling, and classes incorporate flexibility, technique, and strengthening skills. Latin Dance classes include styles such as salsa, bachata, merengue, cha-cha, rumba, and samba, along with urban and modern dance incorporated to popular songs, and students are challenged to think on their feet in an energetic and fast-paced class. Beyond the Spectrum is created for children and adults with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, and focuses on dancing as a form of expression, targeting and improving genetic, structural, and muscular weaknesses, and encouraging participation and involvement with others. Technique/Flexibility classes provide practical knowledge and exercises in stretching and flexibility that can be applied directly to routine life. Hip Hop classes focus on rhythm and muscle memory, and Hip Hop and Latin Dance classes state that dancers develop focus, strength, and agility while having fun, and are described as excellent options for high-energy kids who want a fast and fun dance class.

Latinas Art Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was created to support arts education and encourages the study, appreciation, and recognition of excellence in the Latin Arts. Its stated goals are to empower women and young girls and to provide the community with education and exposure to the Latin(e) Arts and Culture, with a vision to recognize aspects of Latin(e) culture that have shaped the past and to take those into the future. The organization states that art inspires and shapes understanding of the world, creates creativity, gives the community a voice, and helps form a mindset that activates how people imagine the world. Classes are hosted by the Latinas Art Foundation.
