About
Camp Funderblast offers active games, arts and crafts, swimming, nature adventures, dress up days, themed weeks, songs, skits, storytelling, root beer float parties, and dance parties. The program includes repeated opportunities for active games and arts and crafts throughout camp days.
• Ages: 4–12 years old
• Schedule: Summer camp runs Monday to Friday from 9am–3:30pm for kids in pre-K through 7th grade, with PM extended care from 4–5pm at the Peace Lutheran location and a Tennis Camp option from 10am–12pm.
Camp Funderblast was started by long-time camp maestro Veronica Rae Cowen, and Funderblast was born at Scott Valley Swimming & Tennis Club. Veronica helped start InspirationCampaign.org in 2012. The program’s stated mission is “Supporting Kids In Being Their Best!!!” and it describes itself as a fun, local day camp for 4–12 year olds that helps kids thrive. The camp states that making sure each child feels seen, loved, and safe is just the beginning, and that it keeps camp small, local, and loving with a loving, positive intention behind it. The mission further explains that it is a place where kids can have fun while learning who they are in a safe space, with a vision to create a space where each child feels safe, loved, and seen, and that the way to invite others to be their best is to lead by example.
The program notes that Funderblast was born at a family-oriented club set among beautiful surroundings, and that Peace Lutheran Church in Mill Valley has opened its arms to the camp since the pandemic began, with the facility there described as absolutely beautiful. The camp highlights that throughout its website there are photos of kids holding up positive messages, based on the question, “If you could gift a positive message to the world, what would it be?” Registration for Summer 2026 is scheduled to open January 26 at noon. The program states that it will be offering School Holiday Camps during Thanksgiving Week, Winter Break, Ski Week, and Spring Break in Mill Valley and Fairfax, and After School Camp Mondays–Thursdays in Mill Valley only. At the Scott Valley location, families have the option of professional tennis lessons at Tennis Camp run by the club’s Tennis Department, and at either Homestead or Scott Valley, campers can take swim lessons in the afternoon and are escorted to and from swim lessons by camp staff.
