Curious about oil painting but not sure where to start? This beginner-friendly workshop demystifies the essentials, introducing you to the materials, tools, and core techniques that make oil painting so rich and versatile. You’ll learn how to set up your palette, understand mediums and surfaces, and explore foundational methods like layering, blending, and brushwork. With guided instruction and hands-on exploration, you’ll gain the confidence to begin your own oil painting practice and discover the unique beauty of working with this timeless medium.

This workshop is located in the classroom. 

About the Teacher: 

Maggie Parr began her career at Walt Disney Imagineering, working as a show designer on attractions for Toontown and Animal Kingdom. After leaving Disney to focus on painting, she continued as an independent contractor while expanding into book illustration, murals, portraits, comics, and television writing. She trained in classical painting with artists including Steve Huston, Cheryl Kline, Steven Assael, Jeremy Lipking, and Joseph Q. Daily, later earning an MFA. She now teaches students of all levels while maintaining an active painting practice.
