Wednesday Wrens: Toddler and Caregiver Play-Garden

For toddlers who are walking up to 30 months, we offer a caregiver & child class on Wednesday mornings, where you and your toddler are invited to a guided learning experience in the garden with Sunbeam director, early childhood and parent educator Shawna Thompson. Over the course of the six weeks participants will also meet the animals, create in the mud kitchen and explore the open-ended play yard with loose parts such as trucks, balls, straw bales, and climbing equipment.

Each week, caregivers will be empowered to notice and reflect on toddlers' developmental themes:

• sensorimotor learning,
• cause-and-effect,
• exploring textures and sounds,
• emerging independence,
• parallel play, and
• the beginnings of pretend play and representational objects.

Please plan to dress your child in durable closed-toed shoes and dress for the weather and elements. Rain typically starts in October. Children will need to come in head-to-toe durable waterproof rain gear on wet days. Rain and mud play create wonderful memorable play experiences and optimal sensory learning opportunities!

We have an area for toileting and for diaper changes. We encourage lots of hand washing while on site. We ask that you bring a snack. We will take snack when we make a circle at the end of the time together.
