About
Claremont Nature Centre Outdoor Education Programs include activities such as building shelters, building fires, practicing identification skills, searching for wild edibles in the forest, running in the woods, connecting with nature, and forging new relationships around the campfire. The Riversong programs take place in the forest surrounding Claremont over the course of four Saturdays.
• Ages: 8–18 years old
• Schedule: Riversong programs run over four Saturdays
Claremont Nature Centre opened in 1970. The programs focus on the individual while helping develop a deep connection with nature and prioritizing skill-based learning. Campers are supported by experienced camp counselors. The centre offers nature-based programs for school groups, Guides, Scouts, adults and community groups. Curriculum-connected programs deliver hands-on experiences in an outdoor setting and provide real-life applications of classroom learning. Limited camp registration allows following the passions of the group and supporting children’s interests through custom learning. Riversong I is for female identifying or non-binary participants aged 8 to 13, and Riversong II is for female identifying or non-binary participants aged 14 to 18. One testimonial notes that students “enjoyed every minute they had at Claremont” and describes the staff as “fantastic,” and another describes it as an “excellent program” and recommends it for those seeking positive role models for girls.
