About

Kids Camp includes Bible studies, games, crafts, song and dance, free play, snack, and lunch for full-day campers. Campers practice for a final musical performance of “Who, What, When, Where, Why,” and full-day campers only participate in the musical performance practice and the final performance. On some days, campers walk to Smith Park for a small portion of the day, and on the final day of camp they walk to Chuck E. Cheese on the corner of Rosemead Blvd. and Mines Ave.

Kids Camp runs a typical day that includes a camp opening assembly, small group Bible studies, game time, lunch, free play, musical practice, and a camp closing assembly, with half-day camper dismissal at 11:30am and pick-up for full-day campers beginning at 3:00pm. New campers must provide proof of age on their first day and must be able to verbally communicate, use the restroom without diapers, eat and drink, change clothes, follow directions, stay on campus, refrain from purposely harming themselves or others, participate in group settings, and climb stairs. If a camper is not to attend the Chuck E. Cheese trip, they stay home that morning and, for full-day campers, arrive by 1:15pm for the afternoon musical dress rehearsal. Children who are continually picked up late may be permanently dismissed from camp, and camp volunteers are not equipped to provide the support or specific care that a child with special needs may require.

Kids Camp is a ministry of First Bilingual Baptist Church, which was established in Pico Rivera in the 1960s. The camp’s stated mission is to discover a relationship with Jesus, share truth, and support families in the community by teaching Biblical truths in a variety of ways while providing a safe environment for children. The program uses a “Mission: Possible” theme with this mission focus. Leadership contact is listed as Cindy at (562) 335-0243 or [email protected].

Testimonials describe the camp as very well organized, a blessing to families and the community, and a “very beautiful experience,” with some noting that kids did not want to go home and that families are looking forward to next year.
